Smart formatting & tone

Smart formatting and the right tone in every app

Smart Formatting cleans up dictation before it's pasted: it removes filler words, applies your corrections and fixes punctuation, and never translates. Tone by app then adapts the wording to where you're typing — Messages, Work, Email or Other — with Formal, Casual or Very casual for each.

How it works

Three steps. That’s it.

01.

Turn on Smart Formatting

It's on in the Style page; without it, dictation is pasted exactly as transcribed.

02.

Set tone by app

Choose Formal, Casual or Very casual for Messages, Work, Email and everything else.

03.

Just talk

TapWisper detects the app you're in and applies the matching tone.

Details

What you should know.

Messages
WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, Signal and Discord — casual by default.
Work
Slack, Microsoft Teams, Notion, Linear, Jira and code editors — casual by default.
Email
Mail, Outlook, Gmail and Spark — formal by default.
Corrections applied
When you correct yourself mid-sentence, the correction is applied instead of typing both versions.

FAQ

Good questions.
